I worked on a golf course in east Tennessee for 8 years and for all 8 years they have been on the golf course. They do eat cicadas, and they burrow into the sand on the greens. They are super docile tho, swat at them all you want and I or no one that I know has ever been stung.

As a Texan, I can confirm that these beasts are pretty docile and don’t mess with us people. As a younger kid, I lived in a house that was practically a cicada killer hangout and arena. Some mornings during the summer, you could look out the window and see the males flying around and brawling like a couple drunk men in a bar fight, while the females stood aside and watched the men fight. While in the evenings, the females would fly around their burrows, probably looking for cicadas. For the docile part, I mean it and Coyote means it. They’re *extremely docile.* My father and I would have to mow right by their burrows, and every time we walked past them, they minded their own business. It was quite off-putting, as it felt like every insect and creature in Texas was out to kill you. So, I liked the information Coyote gave here. Stay safe, y’all.
