honestly the fact that none of you have learned to appreciate rays over one death is saddening. steve said it was his fault and not the stingray’s, why don’t you all understand that these things are not dangerous?

I've actually been to the same exact location! It made me appreciate stingrays a lot more. They're not heartless killers in any way. If you ever find yourself in Grand Cayman, I highly recommend giving Stingray City a visit.

I’ve been stung by a stingray before. I’ve broken a bunch of bones, had muscle and tissue damage, etc, but being stung by a stingray is by far the worst pain I’ve ever experienced

I was stung once in the top of my foot by a stingray. When he got me, the sting itself felt exactly like the pinch of a large blue swimmer crab (Portunus armatus). However about 25 minutes later, excruciating pain was throbbing through my entire leg. Resulted in a small scar on my foot. I am glad it happened though because it will be a great story to tell :) Maybe this is why Coyote is always seeking a sting!!

Wonder how a stingray sting rates on the Coyote pain scale? I was stung by a stingray 3 times in like 1.5 seconds at Huntington Beach last summer (2019). I had only been in the water 5 minutes, mid calf deep water. Got me once in the back of my left heel and twice in the back of my right heel and left the stinger in, was kind of difficult to pull it out. Worst pain I've ever felt, started coming up into thigh and lower abdomen on the right side (since he got me twice on the right). Thanks to putting my feet in bags of very hot water(breaks down their venom), the intense pain only lasted 1.5 hours. It was probably just a small ray (maybe 1ft), I can't imagine how bad the pain would be if it were bigger or if I had gotten stung somewhere else on my body that I couldn't immerse in hot enough water. Also can't imagine a small child getting stung. I've only been to the ocean like 10 times my entire life, I had locals tell me they'd lived there 10 years and never been stung. 3 days later, the weather channel did a story that there were 173 stings that same day at Huntington Beach. Apparently conditions were just right with tide, winds, and ocean currents to bring a bunch in that day. The weird thing was is they were fine after a 4-5 hours and appeared to even be starting to heal and then a week later they got infected (moral: take antibiotics even if they don't look bad lol). Despite everything, I still really like Stingrays.

I was stung by a stingray when I was 8. It went right thought my foot. My foot was rock solid for 3 days and i couldn't walk for a week. That ruined my vacation.
